The Diva workshop is intended for the all kinds of users of the software (beginners, intermediate, or experts), mainly especially participants to the Seadatanet2 and Emodnet projects.



The workshop will take place from May 1 to May 4, 2012. The core of the activities will be on May 2 and 3.


The workshop will be held at the STAtion de REcherches SOus-marines et Océanographiques (STARESO), a facility of the University of Liège. STARESO is located on the Revellata peninsula, a few kilometers from the town of Calvi, in the northwest of Corsica.

How to get there?

Calvi Sainte-Catherine airport has regular connection with Paris-Orly, Marseille and Nice. It is also possible to travel by ferry from Nice to Calvi http://www.corsica-ferries.fr. Transport from Sainte-Catherine airport to STARESO will be made by the station staff.


The participants will be housed in the station lighthouse. Bath towels and soap are provided in the rooms. Meals are taken next to the meeting room. Pocket torches are welcome for the late return to the lighthouse. Power sockets are Type~F, some of you may need adapters.


Just send an email to Charles (ctroupin at ulg dot ac dot be) with you intention to attend the workshop. Later on we will ask you details concerning your flight schedules, in order to organize the drives from the airport to the workshop venue.


As in the previous editions of the workshop, the program will be adapted to each participants, according to its needs and to its experience with the software.


  • Installation/compilation of the latest version of the code.
  • Preparation of two-dimension applications and interpretation of the analysis parameters.
  • Parameter optimization tools.
  • Application to three and four dimensions.

Intermediate users

  • Extraction of data from [ODV] spreadsheets.
  • Creation/improvement of regional climatologies.

Expert users

  • Application of transformations to the data (anamorphosis, logarithm, ...).
  • Improved reference fields.


As the software is mostly based on command lines, it is preferable that the participants have a basic knowledge in UNIX-like operating systems or in cygwin (for windows).
